Anatomy and Physiology is the study of the structures and functions of our body systems. Our approach to A&P incorporates hands-on and visual learning techniques with clay models, demonstrations and drawing, as well as verbal and written study.
Massage and Bodywork Theory and Application
250 Hours
(Ethics and Professionalism: 10 hours, Pathology: 40 hours)
Within this category, there are many different areas of study. We will cover each of the following:
- Foundations of Therapeutic Massage
- Medical Terminology for Professional Record Keeping
- Indications and Contraindications for Massage
- Hygiene, Sanitation and Safety
- Professionalism and Legal Issues

- Cranio-Sacral
Each of these areas of practice are introduced by professionals in the community
who are trained and practicing these techniques.
Hands-On Supervised Training
Students are required to complete a certain number of hours in our student clinic. Initially, students will work on friends and family in our professional space. After the first practical exam, students begin to work on clients from the community. There is always a supervisor present to answer questions and observe techniques. In this way, students learn and experience how to work with clients in a safe and professional manner as well as allow students to practice the techniques introduced in class.
The clinic schedule allows each student to sign up for times that accommodate their work and personal time.
Attendance
Students must be present for at least 90% of designated class time in order to be eligible for certification. If necessary, students may make up time by attending another session or with a personal tutor provided by the school and paid for by the student.

HISTORY AND OUR FACILITY
In starting AIH, our first area of focus was to develop a solid, well-rounded affordable 500 hour massage therapy program. We have added several additional classes and workshops to provide students with a variety of specific personal and professional technique development. These offerings allow our students to accumulate additional training and certifications on site.
Our building is on the near east side of Bloomington in the Insights Optical building. 417 S. Clarizz Blvd. AIH has three main classrooms, which works well for larger groups and workshops, our kitchen and smaller rooms are used both as private session rooms. We are very close to the I.U. Campus, walking distance from the Bloomingfoods East store and the College Mall. Bloomington's downtown square is appoximately 2 miles west. Feel free to email the director, Jo, at aihhealingarts_yahoo.com.

CLINIC & OUTREACH
In addition to training high quality professional massage practitioners, AIH is dedicated to the expansion of the community's understanding of massage and its benefits. To achieve this goal, AIH established the AIH Clinic and a community outreach program.
AIH Clinic
Clients of the AIH Clinic can expect a professional environment and a relaxing experience. Each 1-hour massage is given by an AIH student therapist and costs only $30.00. Clinic provides students the opportunity to work in a professional setting and perfect their ever growing skills. In addition to the "student clinic", AIH also houses several professional practitioners in the areas of massage therapy, naturopathy, reflexology, homeopathy, and acupuncture.
Currently, the AIH Clinic is operating Monday - Saturday. Times vary according to student availability, but we can usually find a time to match any schedule. To schedule an appointment, call (812) 330-0053. Everyone is welcome.
AIH Outreach/ Community Programs
Associates of Integrative Health is very proud to have established countless working partnerships for the massage therapy program with Indiana University, Bloomingfoods Market & Deli, People's University, and Bloomington Parks and Recreation. We also enjoy participating in local festivals and fundraisers. These events and partnerships benefit our community and give the students diverse experiences as massage
therapists.
During the summer of 2011, students will have the opportunity to travel and attend events held at AIH's Appalachian Center. The center is located in the Northwest corner of North Carolina and is a delightful retreat from the Indiana summer heat.
Workshops
Yoga

It is an inclusive style, accessible to everyone. Flexibility, strength and balance are encouraged throughout the practice. Each class focuses on one of the 7 laws or principals, moving practitioners toward success and evolution. Classes are led by Martha Sattinger ans anyone interested please call AIH at 330-0053.
You do need to be a certified massasge therapist to practice in Indiana. For the most up-to-date information you can log on to www.in.gov, and type "massage therapy" into the search engine. AIH provides the accredited certification in accordance with the state of Indiana.
Our program runs approximately 8- 10 months (32 sessions).
We believe in quality not quantity. The minimum class size is 6 and the maximum is 14.
A question to ask yourself - people do not just come knocking on your door! Our program provides many facets of appropriate marketing measures as well as an afternoon with a panel of local professionals in order to help you begin exploring ways to build a clientele. The students can expect to earn $ 25.00 - $40.00 an hour for the first few years. As you develop additional training and experience your hourly fees may increase.
AIH has recently created a graduate clinic, this clinic is offered by inviation to our graduates allowing them to work as soon as their studies are completed.
We have based our program on the requirements of the National Certification Board.
